A/C Rebate Qualifications

To qualify for the FPL $150 instant rebate, the new A/C unit must be:

  • Installed in a single-family detached home.
  • A completely new straight cool/air cooled A/C system, including both indoor and outdoor units.
  • 16- or 17-SEER rated.
  • Purchased through a Participating Independent Contractor (PIC).

How do I redeem my FPL A/C Instant Rebate?

When you’re ready to upgrade to a new, energy-efficient A/C, and it meets the rebate qualifications, follow these simple steps:

  1. Search for a PIC in your area by clicking the “Find a PIC” button above, and call.
  2. Once you’ve chosen the PIC that is right for you, they will come and install your new A/C system.
  3. Your $150 instant rebate will appear automatically as a credit on the invoice your PIC provides.

What is a PIC?

A participating independent contractor (PIC) is an independent business you can hire to install your new A/C system. These businesses have agreed to comply with FPL’s program standards but are not employed by FPL.

Do I need a new A/C?

You should consider a new, more energy-efficient A/C if your current system:

  • Is more than 10 years old
  • Needs frequent repairs
  • Runs longer to keep your home cool

Can a new A/C save me money on my bill?

Depending on the size and efficiency of your current A/C, a new system could save you money on your energy bill. For example, if you upgrade an older three-ton A/C with a new, higher efficiency model, you could save around $377 annually.1

What is a straight cool/air cooled A/C system?

A straight cool/air cooled A/C is one that includes a cooling cycle only. A gas, oil or electric strip heater may be included, but it does not have a separate heating cycle. This is a less expensive system compared to others that have a heating cycle, and it’s perfect for mild winters.

What is a SEER rating?

SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio and is a measure of an A/C’s average annual cooling efficiency. The higher the SEER, the more efficient the unit.
